Codehunters by Ben Hibon of stateless films is an astonishing capsule animé film by the UK-based director, aided by Glasgow-based Axis Animation. Reminds me of the work of Koji Morimoto, and fuses the best of East and West animated styles. Fluid, desaturated visuals complement a brief glimpse of an intense dystopic vision. If only the original brief to develop it as a series hadn’t changed into it being a wordless promo short for MTV Asia. Still this signals Hibon as a director to monitor.
